Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns look and feel like real teeth, and are virtually indistinguishable from a patient's natural teeth. Porcelain has the advantage of translucency, which means that it absorbs and reflects light the same way that a real tooth does. Other tooth-colored materials often look unrealistic because they are opaque.

At his Mesa practice serving Phoenix , Scottsdale, and surrounding communities, Dr. Williams utilizes porcelain crowns to repair, strengthen, and improve the appearance of broken or heavily decayed teeth. In the first appointment, the damaged tooth is reshaped and resized to allow the crown to be placed over it. Dr. Williams then creates a mold from which the porcelain crown will be created. Dr. Williams uses a detailed color-matching process to make sure the new crown will match the surrounding teeth. The permanent crown is then custom-designed at a lab to fit the reshaped tooth perfectly. Once the porcelain crown is ready, Dr Williams bonds it in place using a special light-activated bonding agent. A porcelain crown will function just like a normal tooth. The patient will be able to chew normally, and the crown will provide support to adjacent teeth.
